I Remember Love
I remember love
The feeling of anticipation Wanting to be wanted by someone else To be captured by another's art Adored Put on display I remember love The youth The innocence of it all Smiling, giggling, Wanting to fall deeply Without caution or forethought Running into the wild The fields, marigolds, dandelions, Eating watermelon and sunflower seeds I remember when love had no fear It was open, honest No masks, no costumes Lovers were themselves Free, transparent, unassuming I remember when I fell in love How the wind blew The dress I wore The sun glistening on my skin That feeling To be loved and be remembered. By Reonda Thompson 02.03.2021 You Were My First Love
You were my first love In the mornings when you woke up After brushing your teeth The next thoughts were about me Where I was If I was cold and alone Or still burning with desire after our last heated session I'd die without you You mean so much to me Those were the words that came out of your mouth This new found love was amazing Sparks flying, random dates, sparing no expense The sunrise, the sunsets Being held in the palm of your hands Touch, texture, deep conversations, flattery Fluttering of butterflies inside these bones Darling, Now you are hard to get ahold of Are you bored Am I no longer your muse Is there someone else? Why has the candlelight grown dim Come back We need to rekindle our relationship You were my everything Still are I can't live without you The waves in my ocean Of despair The bee that won't produce honey The grass is no longer green in Spring Darling You belong with me forever Without me you don't exist Come back I miss you Sincerely, Pen, paper, and poetry P.S Three is not a crowd with us We flow beautifully By Reonda Thompson 1.14.2022 |
The Heart
The heart is a vast sea
One of emotion Full of red A fiery sensation Embers burning on the inside Hot coals Hot oils Running on pure adrenaline And love. By Reonda Thompson 02.28.2021 Awakened By Color Dreaming in color Vivid, wild, untamed, unashamed Lovely, taking time but it's still going to happen Auburn, gold, silver, mahogany, peach, maroon, lime, purple, sky blue Dreaming dreams Letting the action's follow These dreams will never die My name is going to be in books, magazines A star that shines Illuminating what isn't authentic Trailblazer, rebel, classy Never following trends Too bold, and hips too wide to fit in My age doesn't define the who I am Graceful, grateful, gorgeous, genius, genuine, giving Girls and women hope Living and loving the dream By: Reonda Thompson 2.10.2022 |
When I Write
When I write I am giving my life
Opening up the larynx and esophagus I am laying my body down To by slaughtered, Examined thoroughly Sliced open for the world to see My willingness To be exploited Is pure insanity and bravery The poetic consciousness Brilliant, bodacious, unnerving Every time I write, I die a little The soul lives. By Reonda Thompson 02.15.2021 Dancing After the Storm Dancing After The Storm There's a song after silence There's calm after a storm There's peace after animosity The tides will slow and this ship wrecked heart will be brought back to shore There's rescue after danger After the rain there's fresh flowers Bountiful In an assortment of colors After death, there's life The feeling of death has lingered far too long Awaken these bones Carry them back to full restoration Dig them up from the grave Rise up and walk Move, love, dance, laugh, be filled with joy There's freedom after captivity By: Reonda Thompson 1.17.2022 |
